It’s almost that time again where we look to the year ahead and get inspired for all that it brings. It is also the time of year that our favourite paint companies release their predictions of the colours we will be seeing most of in 2018. I have chosen three of my favourites that come from all sides of the colour wheel. Read on to find out what colours made it and some items you can start introducing into your interior today!
Benjamin Moore: Caliente AF 290
Benjamin Moore has released their colour for 2018 and it caused some controversy in the interiors world! Caliente AF 290 took out the crown and can be described as ‘a vibrant, charismatic shade of red’. The description Benjamin Moore used sums the red up very well, as it is a deep yet vibrant colour that is definitely charming. The colour can be used to paint an entire room, a feature wall or as a simple pop of colour. I love how it is used on the front door in the image below to add a burst of colour to an otherwise neutral space. Paired with warm neutrals or a bright white, I think Caliente is a winner and I look forward to seeing a lot more of this fun colour in 2018.

Sherwin-Williams: Oceanside SW 172-C7
Sherwin-Williams have also opted for a dramatic colour choice for their prediction for 2018. Oceanside SW 172-C7 can be described as ‘a collision of rich blue with jewel-toned green’. Oceanside is definitely in the turquoise family but is a more modern and elegant shade than we have seen in recent years. The blue/green would look amazing painted on walls with white trim, making neutral furniture pop! You can also pair Oceanside with metallics such as gold and bronze allowing them to shimmer, creating a timeless effect. I absolutely love this colour and can’t wait to see it show up on furniture items, walls and homewares in 2018!

Dulux: Heart Wood 10YR 28/072
Dulux has released its colour of the year and I don’t want to be biased but this would have to be my favourite. We have seen this colour floating around in the fashion and beauty industry recently, so it was only a matter of time before it made it’s way into our interiors as well. This was definitely my prediction if I had to choose one and I am so happy my favourite paint company chose it too! Heartwood is a very warm pinky colour that evokes coziness and hygge vibes. The colour is a great all-rounder as it can be paired with warm greys, browns and various timber shades. Heartwood is a great colour to use in soft furnishings and can also be used on interior and exterior walls. Get ready to see a lot more of this gorgeous shade popping up all over your Instagram feed!
